Abstracto
- The present test intends to make an analysis of the competitiveness of the yellow maize within the bird-raising chain, it is to evaluate from the point of view of the efficiency indicators the present situation and the sustainability of this source of raw material within the industry of balanced. The work took control of base in the information generated by the regional nucleus of the bird-raising chain and the statistics of the observatory of agrocadenas of the Ministry of Agriculture. In addition, one complemented with basic calculations of statistics and update of values by means of the linear interpolación and application of indices. For the competitiveness analysis internal indicators like production costs were used, yield, efficiency, for the case of the external indicators it was used the Index of the Trade balance and the rate of protection. The analysis of the data allows to conclude that Colombia under the present conditions is not competitive producing maize given to the differences in yields, costs by ton which implies to incur monetary additional costs when using the national maize like raw material in the Food industry Balanced For Animals.
