Abstracto
- Monthly rainfall historical series from two stations located in Anolaima (Cundinamarca Colombia) were studied in order to identify associations between macroclimatic events such as El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the Local variability rainfall and their implications on coffee cultivation development. Behavior patterns, atypical and extreme rainfall were analyzed by statistics measures of variability and by annual and monthly box-plots, whereas the association between rainfall and macroclimatic phenomena were studied through correlations between series of rainfall and 11 Pacific and Amazonian climate indicators such as the Oceanic Niño Index (ONI) and the Amazon dipole patterns. Historical averages reflected the bimodal rainfall patterns and the correlations confirmed that the ONI is the best index to relate the interannual variability of rainfall in the region to the ENSO, so emphasis is given to its potential use as a rainfall predictor and a preventive and adaptation measures planner against the occurrence of excess or deficient rainfall periods.
